![]() During a recent visit to Mora I attended the East Central Chapter of the DFL Senior Caucus meeting. The program focused on the 2020 Census and why “We Count.” Frank Sachs from the census speakers bureau explained that a high census count is crucial in maintaining eight congressional districts, determining community needs and maximizing federal dollars returned to Minnesota communities to fund a variety of essential services. April 1, 2020 has been designated as Census Day. Watch your mailboxes! Many of us will be able to fill out the census form online, however a small army of workers will still be going door to door to ensure everyone is counted. During the last census, Wisconsin came in first for the number of people counted, followed by Minnesota. One of the door prizes was this nifty Census t-shirt. I plan to wear mine on the campaign trail to promote the importance of the census and why “We Count!”
