Impact of Tariffs

Nearly six out of 10 people surveyed by Coresight Research said they are concerned tariffs will boost the prices of holiday goods, CNBC reported.

Many of us were concerned with the president's use of tariffs in the summer of 2018 and feared for our farmers and others as explained during this video Erin Ningen and I made made on the Duluth waterfront during my primary campaign for Minnesota's 8th Congressional seat:

​Without one bullet fired--America finds itself in the middle of a new war--- with some of our closest allies and China, the second largest economy in the world.

Amplyfied by a “Presidential Tweet” heard round the world...we are now  embroiled in the midst of what may escalate into the largest trade war in modern day history.

When the dust settles there will be winners and losers. 

Early reports from the front lines---already carry casualty lists.
--An American Nail manufacturer.
--Harley Davidson 
--Soybean and pork farmers.

Tariffs can be effective--but using a sledge hammer when  a scalpel is required --to heal an ailing sector of the American economy is short sighted…. and may prove fatal to the patient we are attempting to save.

President Trump is gambling he’ll win this war---without upsetting a healthy job market and a decade long economic expansion.
 
If he doesn’t---or if this becomes a protracted trade war... the casualty lists will grow to include the American consumer, our farmers and the very workers whose manufacturing and mining jobs the president set out to save.
