High stakes in 2020

Greetings from Moose Lake Township in Minnesota's Senate District 11!
For those who may not know me, I spent many years as a television reporter and my husband Gary worked multiple jobs; including truck driver, auctioneer and personal fitness trainer.

Our two incomes allowed us to build a home in Moose Lake Township, raise a family and enjoy the benefits of rural and small town living.
Unless we act to address the pressing needs of working families I fear the opportunities we enjoyed will no longer exist for many of our friends and neighbors.

In an effort to reassure us, our president will point to the stock market’s record levels and claim his administration’s policies have created an economy that works for everyone.
We know better.
Many of our working families are not invested in the market. They are struggling to get by day-to-day in the face of stagnant wages, crushing student debt, the lack of safe and affordable housing and day care programs for their children.

As a first time grandmother--my sense of urgency for our children and grandchildren has grown exponentially.
Regardless of the outcome of the presidential election we can still make a difference in St. Paul.

From affordable and accessible health care--to fully funded schools--to funding to repair our aging infrastructure and broadband expansion--working families have a lot riding on the outcome of the 2020 Minnesota legislative session now underway in St. Paul.

We have high hopes, but we also had them going into the 2019 legislative session. Unfortunately Republican leadership in the senate failed to bring critical House bills to the floor for a fair debate.
We have faith the House and Senate DFL Caucuses will work hard to deliver their promises to Minnesotans this session.
But there are no guarantees the opposition will change their positions and help pass legislation designed to help working families.

That's why I'm investing my time and effort in 2020 to flip Senate District 11 and  the Minnesota State Senate from Red to Blue.
The Michelle Lee for Senate Campaign is building a talented and dedicated group of volunteers and raising money to take back our senate seat.
With nearly nine months to go before the November Election--we have already earned several key endorsements, including the Minnesota Association of Professional Employees and the DFL Senior Caucus.
We have also gained the support and advice of former SD-11 Senators Becky and Tony Lourey.

But we also need your help to inspire voters to cast their ballots for us in November. I urge you to join us!
  • Make plans to attend your DFL precinct caucuses on February 25th and take a neighbor or five with you.
  • Present resolutions for consideration to the DFL Platform
  • Sign up to be delegates at the SD 11 Convention in March and help me win the DFL endorsement.
  • Make plans now to walk with us in parades and work in our DFL booth at your county fair.
  • Volunteer with DFL Get Out the Vote Campaigns and sign up to be a volunteer for the Michelle Lee for Senate Campaign.
Together we will take back our district and reclaim a majority in St. Paul to tackle the issues facing working families in our district and throughout the State of Minnesota.
