Over the years I've had several opportunities to meet with Congressman Nolan, first as a reporter and then as a candidate hoping to replace him in Washington D.C. following his retirement. During my run in the DFL Primary I had the opportunity to sit down and have coffee with Nolan and one of his aides at the Duluth Grill. Before our visit ended I told him we saw eye-to-eye on 98.9% of the issues facing our friends and neighbors in Minnesota's 8th District, including the need for single payer healthcare and getting the dark money out of politics. When it came to the issues we could not agree upon, we discussed them at length and in the end, agreed to disagree. I thank the congressman for sharing his time with me and for his service to the the district. I wish he and his wife, Mary many happy years together in retirement. www.duluthnewstribune.com/news/government-and-politics/4538434-nolans-days-office-grow-short
