It seems like a life-time ago I traveled to St. Paul to register as a primary candidate for Minnesota's 8th Congressional seat.
When I left my position as a TV journalist and news anchor at the close of 2016 I set out on a new path of self-discovery and education to serve my community. My first stop was the Women's March in Washington D.C. followed by the candidate's track at camps including Wellstone, Vote, Run, lead and Take Action Minnesota. While I lost the primary I gained friends and a greater understanding of the needs of Northeastern Minnesota required for its residents to survive and thrive. The campaign brought me to every corner of the 27 thousands plus square miles of the district and gave me the opportunity to hear from Democrats, Republicans, Independents and more. During those travels I found there are more issues that unite us than divide us. This must be the key to unlocking a better Minnesota. I do not know where this current path may lead me, but I look forward to the future and finding my place in community and public service.
