MN Senate District 11 includes Carlton, Pine and portions of Kanabec and St. Louis Counties. SD 11 flipped red this year following a very short special election to replace our longtime DFL Senator Tony Lourey.
At the time of his appointment to the Walz' Administration I was urged by the people of my district to entered the race as a DFL candidate. With the support of friends and neighbors--following 18 days of campaigning--we won the SD 11 Convention endorsement. Three days later I lost in the primary election. The seat was subsequently lost in the special election to the Republicans. Today it is time to put the past behind us, join forces and move forward together into the future to recapture what, until recently, has been a long held DFL state senate seat. The DFL controls the Minnesota House and the Governorship, but the Republicans control the state senate by a slim margin. Unless we flip the senate to a DFL majority many of the things we hope to accomplish to improve the lives of working families in our district and the state of Minnesota will continue to be thwarted. In the next few months I will be traveling Senate District 11 attending parades and county fairs to touch base with my friends, neighbors and supporters to determine a path forward for me as a candidate in 2020. Before a formal announcement is made there are many things to consider. In the meantime I will continue to update you as we "check" the boxes and build support for a winning senate campaign to flip SD11 from Red to Blue. Thank you for your continued support and believing we can make a difference together.
